During an e-sports event, a well-known female announcer suffered eye damage from an air shot celebratory firework. The announcer, 32-year-old Gwak Min Seon, who is also known as the 'Football Goddess.'
On the 16th, Gwak Min Seon's agency, Starit Entertainment, confirmed to iMBC Entertainment that "Announcer Gwak was seriously injured when a celebratory firework hit her in the face during a recent event."
Starit Entertainment stated, "She is currently receiving treatment for her eyes and entire facial area. Her condition is not good," and added, "We are monitoring her progress. Restoring her eyesight and health is the top priority."
Gwak Min Seon was hosting the PUBG Mobile Pro Series (PMPS) 2024 event at the e-sports arena in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, on May 12 when she was struck by an air shot firework and collapsed. She was immediately taken to a university hospital after the accident.
The agency added that they are continuously coordinating with the event organizers and the game company.
Born in 1992, Gwak Min Seon graduated from the Media Studies Department of Sookmyung Women's University and debuted as an announcer with MTN in 2016. She is known for her work in e-sports, having been a full-time announcer for SPOTV Games. Among football fans, she is affectionately known as the "Football Goddess."
PMPS 2024 is a South Korean PUBG Mobile e-sports tournament that will determine the strongest team of the year. It consists of four seasons, including Season 0, which began in March.
