On March 31st, the YouTube channel 'Kim Na Young's nofilterTV' unveiled a video titled 'First Reveal of Gongvely Gong Hyo-jin's House! Interior Sense that Surpasses Fashion Sense'.
Kim Na Young expressed excitement about visiting someone's home after a long time, stating, "I'm here to knock on the door of the house of the actress 'Gongvely', a place that requires special security." The person to answer the door was actress Gong Hyo-jin herself. Interestingly, a painting by Kim Na Young's publicly known boyfriend, My Q, was hanging in Gong Hyo-jin's entrance, to which Kim remarked, "You recognize a masterpiece."
Gong Hyo-jin shared her feelings about revealing her home, "Revealing my home is a frightening task. It became even harder after getting married. It was more difficult to open up our space with my husband present. Now that he’s not here, I’ve decided to share it." She also mentioned, "This is our newlywed home, but our real newlywed house is in the US."
Having lived in this house for about six years, Gong Hyo-jin is currently preparing to move. She explained her decision to reveal her home, "I'm about to move out, and I thought I should capture every corner of this place before I leave."
She also talked about her connection with Kim Na Young, "We met about a decade ago through fashion week and mutual friends. I became closer to her when she started dating my close friend My Q. When I was overwhelmed with wedding planning, I visited her home because we live nearby. That’s how my husband and My Q met."
Kim Na Young commented that the house felt like being abroad, "Outside feels very Korean, but the interior feels exotic." Gong Hyo-jin described her attachment to the home, "I've lived here for over six years. It’s an old villa built sturdily in the 1980s. The energy of this neighborhood is good. I even got married while living here. We decided to move due to redevelopment issues in the area."
The house features unique touches that reflect Gong Hyo-jin’s personal style, with sliding doors replacing traditional ones, and the largest room transformed into a wardrobe. Gong Hyo-jin expressed her preference for smaller spaces, "I find comfort in sleeping in smaller spaces, so I always turn the big room into a dressing room. I like how half-empty the wardrobe is right now."
She converted the original kitchen space into a lounge area, "It’s just a place to lie down. It feels closer when friends come over." The bathroom features a unique half-bath tub, "I wanted to install a Hinoki bathtub but couldn’t because bubble baths aren’t possible, so I just gave the edges and floor a wooden feel."
Regarding one wall’s red and white stripe design, "My husband loved it, saying it reminded him of Christmas. I prefer gloss," she explained.
An interesting detail is the shoe room, fitting for a fashionista, and the kitchen relocated to the basement, making the house structurally unique. Gong Hyo-jin joked about the difficulty of moving a 600kg refrigerator into the basement, "The movers said it could never come back out."
On the meaning of home, Gong Hyo-jin mused, "A home seems like a reflection of my inner self. It expresses everything about a person. You can see their personality and inner self through their home."
She also hinted at a big farewell to the house, "There's a sense of relief, and nothing more to hide. Leaving this house feels like a ceremony. I'm planning to hold a big flea market."
Gong Hyo-jin married singer Kevin Oh, who is ten years her junior, last October. Despite not being required to serve due to his American citizenship, Kevin Oh enlisted in the Korean military last December to continue his activities in Korea and for a stable family life with Gong Hyo-jin.
Gong Hyo-jin is set to star in the upcoming tvN drama 'Ask the Stars', a romantic comedy set in a space station, with Lee Min-ho as the male lead, scheduled to air in 2024.
A 600kg fridge?!! That is over half a tonne 😲
Too cluttered for my personal taste but its not my space, so who cares 😝Finally, a Korean home with personality and character, instead of the usual boring beige or white. Their taste is quirky and eclectic, I like that they're free to express themselves!
