Meenoi caused an alarm a few days ago when she held a live-streaming session on her social media and broke down in tears, confessing that she had committed a crime.
Following the live stream, Meenoi also posted a lengthy letter that netizens found incoherent and became concerned for the artist's well-being.
She explained, "I am currently fighting with myself. The broadcast I did in the middle of the night was a decision to try and talk about things I could never fully express." She added, "I wanted to show the real me, shedding all playfulness and facing the true aspects of myself. If you believe in my judgment and actions, please watch my endeavors with gratitude as I express them through various works and music. I have many things I want to convey, and these lengthy stories are quite new to me. I am daring to question my life as an artist in front of all of you, and I want to confidently face the actions that I must take responsibility for and continue to express myself in that way."
This letter further raised concerns as Meenoi seemed to be in an unstable mental state.
However, on February 7, Meenoi's label AOMG revealed that the crime Meenoi mentioned during the live stream was not appearing for an advertisement. It was revealed that Meenoi skipped out on a commercial shoot for cosmetics brand 'P' just 2 hours beforehand.
AOMG stated, "It's true Meenoi did not participate in a commercial shoot. This happened because the company and artist had different understandings of the agency and signed an advertisement contract."
Following AOMG's statement, Korean netizens have grown disappointed with the artist's actions and criticized her in a popular online community.
They commented, "Two hours beforehand, seriously lol. It's unbelievable. Without even contacting the advertiser, she went live during that time and shamelessly sponged off the situation," "Wow, Meenoi is amazing. She turns on the live broadcast, crying as if there's an immediate danger, creating a situation that seems so urgent that even the advertising agency is afraid to enforce the penalty. If something really happens, it's only the advertising agency that will suffer losses. Poor advertising agencies," "Then she should have contacted the advertiser. They claimed it was a schedule set a year ago, but informing them just two hours prior and then not showing up, does that even make sense? It's even more absurd that she went live during that time," "The representative of the cosmetic company seems to be super nice. When that cosmetics company refers to AOMG as a major corporation, it means they are small-scale company. Who knows what damage this is causing just because of one person's arrogance?" and "Okay I get that she didn't show up but she should have simple explained the situation properly and expressed genuine remorse. I don't understand why she had to make the situation more awkward and worse by being vague and crying."
Umm she is obviously going through something yall not helpijg
