LE SSERAFIM's music is garnering global attention.
LE SSERAFIM revealed the tracklist for their third mini-album 'ANTIFRAGILE' on the 8th. The first track 'Good Bones,' pre-released on the 26th of last month through the first album trailer, sparked interest with powerful narration like "The world is equally ugly to everyone / The remaining half is up to us to make it right."
The global K-pop fandom paid special attention to the title and message of 'Good Bones.'
The song was inspired by a poem of the same name written by American poet Maggie Smith. Fans speculated on the connection between the poem and the new song's narration before detailed information about the track was released, expressing interest that "LE SSERAFIM's message aligns with the stories they've told so far." This reaction quickly spread through SNS, contributing to the buildup of anticipation for their comeback.
Since their debut, LE SSERAFIM has consistently attempted to fuse music and literature. Incorporating elements from well-known myths and fairy tales into their songs makes it easier for international listeners encountering LE SSERAFIM for the first time to step into the group's narrative.
A track from their first full album 'FEARLESS,' released last May, 'Eve, Psyche, Bluebeard’s Wife,' was inspired by classics and myths. The reinterpretation of the original theme of 'breaking taboos' as 'growth towards a new world' was notable. 'Fire in the Belly' from the same album, inspired by Pinocchio escaping from the whale's belly by lighting a fire, expresses the ambition to become a victor in adventure by igniting passion within. This approach of LE SSERAFIM can also be seen in debut album tracks like 'The Great Mermaid,' a reimagining of 'The Little Mermaid,' and 'Sour Grapes,' inspired by Aesop's fable 'The Fox and the Grapes.'
LE SSERAFIM's use of literary elements in their music has been recognized as a unique trait, firmly establishing the team's distinct identity in the global music market. Notably, 'Eve, Psyche, and Bluebeard’s Wife' and 'Sour Grapes,' despite not being the album's title tracks, have gained immense popularity, surpassing 100 million streams on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform.
LE SSERAFIM aims to touch the hearts of listeners at home and abroad with literary elements in their upcoming third mini-album 'ANTIFRAGILE,' set to be released at 6 PM on the 19th.
The highlight medley of the new album will be unveiled on the 13th.
I'm a fan of Le Sserafim and the lyrics of their songs are usually good ('Good Parts' for example). However, I believe that the sentence “The world is equally ugly to everyone” is bullshit full of hypocrisy. There are people who are born one step away from the top of the mountain, others have to start at the foot of the mountain.
