Super Junior member Kyuhyun recently addressed the comments he made about parking fees during his transition from SM Entertainment to Antenna, clarifying the situation.
Kyuhyun appeared on SBS Power FM radio's 'DinDin's Music High,' which aired on January 22 KST, where he explained the context behind his comments regarding parking fees. He mentioned that he had jokingly mentioned the issue, which had garnered significant attention, and felt the need to provide a clarification.
During the broadcast, the topic of 'SM parking fees' came up, and Kyuhyun said, "I made that comment in a lighthearted manner, but it stirred up quite a controversy. I thought it was important to explain. In the past, when I had schedules, I used my personal car, which was not registered with the company. Therefore, I had to cover my own parking expenses. However, the company would reimburse these expenses through a settlement process," Kyuhyun explained.
He went on, "After leaving SM and moving to Antenna, I heard that we were now paying the parking fees with our credit cards. I initially found this unusual, but then I learned that the company also rents the building, and all employees, including myself, were responsible for paying the parking fees. I realized I had been mistaken about the situation," Kyuhyun admitted.
Kyuhyun had previously raised eyebrows during an appearance on JTBC's 'Knowing Bros' on January 20, where he lightheartedly expressed his disappointment at being asked to pay separate parking fees after transitioning to Antenna, stating, "I was told to pay for parking. I was going to SM for Super Junior practice, but they asked me to cover my own parking fees."
Regarding SM's reaction to his comments, Kyuhyun revealed, "They were understandably upset, but they simply explained that everyone pays parking fees. This applies to both registered company vehicles and unregistered employees. We apologized sincerely for the misunderstanding. I wanted to clarify this matter for everyone," Kyuhyun said.
Dang people slay me, dragging him for that ugh. Who doesn't complain about parking fees especially if he wasn'ttold up front? I know I would. It probably was just an unexpected expense, and can quite add up (more the point is not the cost but just how different it was), not only that the company chose to lay that expense to all their employees (except probably upper executives). They could just include it as a business expense but decided not to. I imagine he'll was just making his comment out of surprise on the difference between before and now.
