(G)I-DLE's Miyeon has opened up about her feelings regarding her performance at the MBC Drama Awards.
On December 30th, the 2023 MBC Drama Awards took place at the MBC Media Center Public Hall in Seoul. On this day, Miyeon performed the OST for the MBC drama series 'My Dearest.' In a refreshing display of honesty, Miyeon acknowledged that, in her assessment, she could have done a better job during her performance at the MBC Drama Awards after the show.
She wrote in the caption of her Instagram story, "MBC Drama Awards viewers... 💕 and Neverver...🩷I got to be on the stage for a celebration in a glorious place and I was so happy to sing one of my favorite songs🥺
I was very nervous and the pitches... I think I made a big mistake. I monitored my performance and I feel like you would have been surprised😭 I performed for the celebration but I am sorry for those who are disappointed and I promise to work harder from now on🥺🩷 The SBS Entertainment Awards performance was also so fun. Thank you for being with us💗"

When I read the comments I thought the performance was pathetic. So I listened and... it's not bad at all. Miyeon made a few errors in accuracy (tendency to drop a bit) but she sang in tune most of the time. We hear that she has stage fright and it's very difficult to get past it when we don't have something that makes us feel comfortable. And conversely when you hear yourself making a mistake, you get even more nervous. Miyeon tries to calm herself with her hand on her chest without success. But let's be serious, the performance isn't horrible.

She sang live, but it does sound bad compared to performances from before. The bar is on the floor if she's getting praised just for singing live, especially for a main vocal of a 5 year old girl group. And singers are supposed to sing well even when nervous.
