On November 22, BLACKPINK was honored with the distinction of being honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBEs), bestowed by King Charles III. This prestigious recognition was presented to BLACKPINK during a ceremony attended by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, marking his state visit to the United Kingdom. The awards, held at Buckingham Palace, celebrated BLACKPINK's significant contributions to raising awareness about climate issues, particularly highlighting their role as COP26 Advocates at the 2021 United Nations climate summit in Glasgow.
At the ceremony, King Charles III shared a light-hearted moment with BLACKPINK, humorously joking, "It's amazing you're still talking to each other after all these years." He also expressed a personal interest in attending a BLACKPINK concert, saying, "I hope I shall have the pleasure of seeing you perform live at some point." These comments added a touch of warmth and personal engagement to the formal proceedings.
Back in November 2021, at the COP26 Summit in Glasgow, Scotland, BLACKPINK played a significant role as goodwill ambassadors and advocates for climate action. They released a video calling on world leaders to take climate change seriously and urged for collective action to combat environmental threats. This participation was part of their ongoing efforts to raise awareness about climate change, in line with their ambassadorship role for COP26.
Im starting to question the validity of these so called awards for being an advocate because these girls arent actually serious advocates for anything.

I like them but let's be real here. There are far more deserving people for this particular award.
