Fans of EPEX were shocked by C9 Entertainment's notice on July 6 KST, posted via the boy group's official SNS platforms.
The notice read:
"At around 2:28 AM on July 6, 2023, the Twitter ID 'witqtozdi' posted false content related to EPEX member WISH.
In the original post, the woman in the photo is WISH's older sister. We plan to secure evidence related to this and proceed with civil and criminal legal action.
The post is obviously false, and there is clearly malicious intent using the member's family. Since this is an illegal act, we plan to complete the legal process without any leniency.
We will also share the progress and results of the legal process in the future."
A malicious online netizen had spread false dating rumors about Wish and his older sister, writing, "Hey #EPEX #WISH was it fun dating secretly behind your fans' backs? Keke I already had my suspicions when you stopped telling fans 'I love you'~".
Based on C9 Entertainment's stern tone even in a written statement, many netizens felt that they could sense the fury of the label over the recent occurrence.
Some commented, "Don't touch the artists' families, that's just sick", "His older sister..?? I bet that user already knew it was his sister, they just did it for attention", "Didn't say 'I love you'... Wow that's scary", "The company responded so well. Rumor-spreading people need to be cut off from their roots. Take them down!", etc.
This is how it should be. Nip it right in the bud. Take care of the problem before it gets big.
