It's the season for Rom-Coms: 7 of Best Rom-Com K-Dramas to Watch

AKP STAFF

The recent debuts of 'King the Land' and 'See You in My 19th Life' signal a revitalizing resurgence of romantic comedies in K-dramas. Brimming with endearing humor and heartfelt romance, these charming narratives are a beloved staple for any drama enthusiast. However, the anticipation of waiting for weekend broadcasts can be a touch agonizing. To help quench your thirst for engaging storylines and captivating characters, here are seven top-tier rom-com K-dramas you can indulge in.

1. "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim?": What happens when your secretary of ten years ends up resigning? But the only reason why you've kept her next to you for this long was because she's the girl you love? Well, that's precisely what happens to Lee Young Joon, and you know, with his personality and his "aura," nothing is going to stop him from doing all he can to keep Miso next to him.

2. "Secret Garden": Two completely different people, a CEO and a stunt woman, find themselves a bit out of sorts after they end up switching bodies. An excellent gender-bender series and a series that brought much popularity to the sequined jacket.

3. "The Business Proposal": No romantic comedy is complete without a bit of pretense, and "The Business Proposal" offers it in spades. This drama packs a punch, featuring everything from captivatingly romantic dates to an endearingly supportive 'pretend' girlfriend and dynamic romantic dialogues. Even though it might be a shorter series compared to others, it certainly doesn't skimp on delivering a gratifying viewing experience.

4. "My Name is Kim Sam Soon": What's so great about this series isn't the hilarious jokes and funny acting, but it's the fact that the main lead was so different from the typical leads you'd see within a K-drama. A woman in her 30s tries to make her way as a patisserie, only to find herself entangled in her boss's life unexpectedly.

5. "She Was Pretty": A beautiful friends-to-lovers story, the overall message of this drama is what stands out as one of the best romance comedies: it's not physical appearance that matters, but what's the heart and mind of the person. A charming series, and you can't forget the iconic nickname "Jackson" either!

6. "Suspicious Partner": Off on the wrong foot right from the start, Noh Ji Wook finds himself being falsely accused of being a pervert, while the accuser, Eun Bong Hee, finds herself falsely accused of murder. Of course, there is the aspect of thrill in this series, but it's the banter between Noh Ji Wook and Eun Bong Hee that makes this one of the best romance comedy K-dramas out there.

7. "Hometown Cha Cha Cha": One of the most heartfelt romance comedies, truly an enemies-to-lovers story, "Hometown Cha Cha Cha" will have you craving the small town life.

What are some of your go-to romance comedy K-dramas?
