On May 10 KST, IU's agency EDAM Entertainment stepped forward with a statement of response to earlier reports, which claimed that an anonymous individual had filed police charges against the singer for suspicions of plagiarism. 

According to EDAM Entertainment, "We have been aware for some time now that false claims of plagiarism and baseless rumors have been spread via various online communities, SNS communities, YouTube, as well as in print form in certain areas. We've recently confirmed that for the past several months, serious accounts of malicious activity were detected on multiple online communities and Naver cafe pages. After confirming the above, the agency proceeded to collect all forms of evidence related to accusations of plagiarism, false rumors, sexual harassment and defamation of character, invasion of privacy, etc; based on the collected evidence, we have submitted lawsuits against responsible parties through the agency's law firm. Then, today, while still waiting on the proceedings of the lawsuits, we found out through the news reports that charges have been filed against IU with the police."

The agency continued, "As of now, we have not received any form of official notice from investigators, and we are learning of the charges for the first time through the news reports from today. We have no information regarding the charges filed, and we are in the midst of confirming the details related to the charges." 

Finally, EDAM Entertainment strongly emphasized that legal action will be taken against any malicious online posts defaming the artist's character.
