'Doctor Cha' continues to captivate audiences, shattering the JTBC viewership record set by 'Itaewon Class.'
According to Nielsen Korea's latest report on May 15, the gripping 10th episode of JTBC's 'Doctor Cha,' which aired the previous day, achieved an astounding 17.958% viewer rating among households nationwide.
This remarkable achievement not only surpassed the previous highest viewership rating of 16.181% set by episode 8 but also stands as JTBC's highest record for the year 2023.
In a remarkable feat, 'Doctor Cha' has now surpassed the highly acclaimed drama 'Itaewon Class,' which held the fourth-highest rating in JTBC's history with a viewership rating of 16.5%.
In the recent episode, the storyline delved into the revelation of Chief Surgeon Seo In Ho's (played by Kim Byung Chul) drunken confession, disclosing his marriage to Jung Sook. The emotional scene brought tears to Cha Jung Sook's eyes as she discovered that Seo In Ho and Family Medicine Professor Choi Seung Hee (Played by Myung Se Bin) have a daughter together.
Furthermore, a surprising turn of events unfolded as Roy Kim (played by Min Woo Hyuk) confessed his feelings for Cha Jung Sook (played by Uhm Jung Hwa), signaling an unpredictable new phase in the drama.
If the ratings continue to increase, 'Doctor Cha' has a chance to climb up the all-time JTBC rankings. 'SKY Castle' ranks in 3rd place on JTBC's all-time popular drama ranking with a peak viewership rating of 23.8%. In second place is 'Reborn Rich' which enjoyed a peak viewer rating of 26.9% and in first place is 'World of The Married' which recorded a peak 28.4% viewer rating.
'Doctor Cha' revolves around the life of Cha Jung Sook, who transitions from being a devoted housewife of 20 years to becoming a first-year resident, navigating the challenges of a torn life. The drama airs every Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 PM, offering viewers a captivating and emotionally charged storyline.
