'My Teenage Boy: Fantasy Boys' is a captivating reality survival program that first aired on MBC on March 30, 2023. As the male counterpart of the popular girl group survival show 'My Teenage Girl,' this series aims to form a new K-pop boy group, following the success of its predecessor that led to the debut of the seven-member girl group CLASS:y on May 5, 2022.
Throughout the competition, 55 talented contestants vie for a coveted spot in the upcoming boy group, showcasing their skills and determination to stand out from the crowd. Interestingly, some of these participants already have their taste of the K-pop industry, having debuted in other groups before joining 'Fantasy Boys.'
Let's take a closer look at the experienced contestants who have previously debuted and are now competing for a chance to shine once again in 'Fantasy Boys':
Nam Seung Hyun
On February 20, 2023, Nam Seung-hyun, a South Korean singer and dancer signed to EZ Entertainment, was introduced as a contestant of “Fantasy Boys.” Prior to this, he was a member of the K-pop boy group N.CUS, where he went by the stage name Soon until his departure in 2020. N.CUS, which is now known as NCUS, made their debut in 2019 with their first mini-album, "Matchless Love."
Moon Hyun Bin
Moon Hyun-bin serves as the leader of Ciipher, a South Korean boy band consisting of seven individuals that were introduced to the music scene in 2021 with their first mini album titled "I Like You," under the agency Rain Company. He is now competing on “Fantasy Boys.” Hyun-bin was also a participant on the popular Mnet survival program “Produce X 101” in 2019.
K-Soul
Liu Zekai, popularly known as K-Soul, is a Chinese trainee who is a participant on “Fantasy Boys.” He has also previously appeared as a contestant on two other popular Chinese survival shows, namely "Super Idol" and "We Are Young." He is a former member of the boy group Mu Ji Shao Nian, which debuted in 2018 with the EP “Eye Light” under the agency Jiyun Culture.
Jeon Byeong Cheol
“Fantasy Boys” contestant Jeon Byeong-cheol is a South Korean singer who already made his debut with Nonstop, which is a project boy group under Rainbow E&M. The group is composed of six members and debuted in 2021 with the digital single “Fly Away.” Nonstop is the seventh group and the first boy group that was formed under the “Future Idol Asia Project.”
Tae Seon
Yang Tae-seon is a participant in "Fantasy Boys," which aims to form a new boy group. He is currently under the management of the label GGA. Prior to this, Tae-seon was the leader and lead vocalist of the boy group TRCNG, which stands for “Teen Rising Champion in a New Generation.” He debuted with the group in 2017 with the mini-album “New Generation.” TRCNG officially disbanded in 2022. Tae-seon was also a contestant on the survival show “Peak Time.”
Ha Seok Hee
“Fantasy Boys” contestant Ha Seok-hee is a South Korean vocalist who previously belonged to Kairos, a K-pop boy band that originated from Howon University's K-pop department. With their first single, "No Limit," in 2021, the eight-member group debuted. However, they disbanded quietly in 2022. Additionally, Seok-hee also participated in the reality survival program "Stars Awakening."
