On December 5 (local time), US magazine TIME selected BLACKPINK as the 2022 Entertainer of the Year.

BLACKPINK was chosen for their fantastic performances shown over the years, and despite having few songs, the group of four superstars has been able to maintain themselves as one of the most popular overseas artists of kpop thanks to the support of fans and the public.

TIME magazine said:

"BLACKPINK has managed to become the biggest girl group in the world precisely by allowing its member Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa to be solo stars in their own right".

“BLACKPINK are not ordinary girls. They performed at the MTV VMAs in August and are on a mega world tour. Its concerts sell out in seconds and it is a blockbuster show attended by famous pop stars like Selena Gomez and Usher. They have the highest number of YouTube subscribers among the artists in the world, etc.”

BLACKPINK expressed their feelings to TIME magazine, mentioning the following:

More than twenty international media outlets, such as Billboard, The Matter, CNN, etc., reported the historic moment starring BLACKPINK and congratulated the female quartet for becoming the first girl group in history to be named TIME's Entertainer Of The Year.

Previously, BLACKPINK was selected as one of the figures of "TIME 100 NEXT 2019", drawing attention as an artist who has global influence and impact.
