The time for college entrance exams has come in South Korea when all hoping to get into the best colleges will take the College Scholastic Ability Test on November 17.
Among the students taking the exam, there are celebrities who are also getting ready, but there are some who have chosen to opt-out of taking the college entrance exams. One of these celebrities is IVE's Jang Won Young.
On November 8, Starship Entertainment explained that "IVE's Jang Won Young, a candidate for the College Scholastic Ability Test for the 2023 school year, has decided not to take the CSAT this year in connection with college entrance."
Many fans were surprised by the idol's decision not to take the college entrance exam because Jang Won Young appeared on various entertainment programs in the past and said that she received a 'perfect' score in Korean, English, and mathematics in the middle school graduation exam.
Additionally, Jang Wong Young boasted fluent English speaking skills since she attended an English-speaking Kindergarten school.
Starship Entertainment stated, "We had a long discussion with Jang Won Young about her college entrance exam but she made this decision based on the opinion that she wants to focus on her activities in the entertainment industry now."
In fact, Jang Won Young is following a busy schedule filming for various advertisements, and she is currently the main MC for the KBS2 'Music Bank.' According to her agency, "We plan to proceed with her activities currently and will consider whether the artist wants to attend college later in life when she is able to."
Many netizens were impressed by Jang Won Young's decision and showed their support for the young idol.
Meanwhile, there are other celebrities who have not taken the college entrance exam other than Jang Won Young. IU and Suzy both opted out of college entrance exams to focus on their careers in the entertainment industry. BTS's "Golden Maknae" Jungkook also did not take the college entrance exam and is currently focusing on his music career as one of the top global K-pop artists.
Should there really be an explanation ? She's too busy to be a college student. She can always go back whenever she wants to further her education. That's the benefit of being young.
