The popular SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'One Dollar Lawyer' is attracting a lot of attention every day.
The 11th episode of 'One Dollar Lawyer,' which aired on November 5, achieved a national average rating of 13.6% based on data from Nielsen Korea. However, the drama has canceled one episode every week for two weeks in a row, leaving many viewers upset.
In addition, the drama was originally scheduled for 14 episodes but will end with 12 episodes. The production company stated that this decision was made because they wanted the drama to be perfect.
On November 9, News media outlet Newsen said, "It has been found that the feud between the production company Studio S and the writer is the cause for the frequent episode cancelations and the early ending of 'One Dollar Lawyer.'" According to the reports, there were witness testimonies that there was an internal conflict, and "it was like walking on thin ice for the fear that the relationship will break from the inside."
The media also quoted the words of an official of the 'One Dollar Lawyer.' The drama official said, "The conflict and rift occurred when Studio S, a production company spun off from SBS, placed company performance and efficiency above the project itself, ultimately causing this sad outcome."
They added, "In any drama, there are subtle differences and conflicts between writers, directors, actors, and production companies, but they all understand one another with the same goal to make high-quality content, so they will make concessions little by little. In the process, Studio S was unable to steer the ship in an intelligent manner."
The official criticized, "It is difficult to determine whose fault it is, and it is the shared responsibility of everyone who did not take this seriously."
It is said that there was a conflict between Studio S and the writer over the script for episodes 5 and 6, causing an unnecessary clash between the two.
The media stated that the conflict between the production company and the writer was the background of the delayed script release and correction requests, causing filming delays.
However, SBS has issued an official position that the rumors are groundless.
Meanwhile, 'One Dollar Lawyer' is scheduled to air the final episode on November 11.
I think this explains the product placement and how it was 'joked' about in the drama. Probably the writer did not like having to put these scenes into what they wrote so they did it almost in a 'mocking' way. Like having Namkoong Min's character kinda breaking the 4th wall.
