References to YG artists in other YG artists' songs and music videos are nothing new. From time-to-time references and homages were given in YGA’s music. On September 4, 2022, TREASURE returned with their second mini album, “THE SECOND STEP: CHAPTER TWO.” The album is composed of five new songs and a ‘Darari’ rock remix version.

‘VolKno’ is one of the B-side tracks of the album performed by TREASURE's rap unit, which are members Choi Hyun Suk, Yoshi, and Haruto. The three rappers wrote and composed the song, and ‘VolKno’ is a hard rock hip-hop song. After the song's release, fans noticed the lyrics of ‘VolKno’ is full of references to their senior artists.

During the “THE SECOND STEP: CHAPTER TWO” countdown live on Weverse while sharing a TMI, Haruto mentioned that there are BLACKPINK’s lyrics in VolKno.

So, the lyrics he added in ‘Volkno’ from BLACKPINK is a line from Lisa’s rap in “Pretty Savage.”

“We seem similar, but we’re different from the core.” – Lisa in ‘pretty Savage.’

“Now it’s YG’s generation create a new wave we seem similar, but we’re different from the core.” – Haruto in 'VolKno.'

“New Kids that are different to the bone” in this verse of Haruto, fans think he is referring to iKon’s album ‘New Kids.’

Choi Hyunsuk, the rapper and leader of Treasure, said during the countdown live that he added G-Dragon and Taeyang to the lyrics of 'Volkno.'

“A problem child who wants to become a dragon while looking at the Sun, Listen to it when you grow up. what a good boy” – Choi Hyunsuk in VolKno.

Dragon, Sun, and "Good Boy" are all references to the members of 'BIGBANG' G-Dragon and Taeyang and their sub-unit's song "GOOD BOY."

In another verse of Hyunsuk – “My ancestors live next door to 1TYM MOBB”, he is referring to YG’s first-generation boy group ‘1TYM’ and ‘MOOB’ the sub-unit of WINNER’s Song Mino and iKON’s Kim Bobby.

On the social networking site TWITTER, fans posted comments expressing their thoughts.

• How many YG references do you want in one song? VolKno: Yes.

• The YG references in VolKno have me going feral. Proud is an understatement. Hyunhayo supremacy.

• Noo, because VolKno basically just them flexing YG fam, lmao.. so many references in this song, 1TYM(Teddy group), MOBB, and some lyrics from their sunbae songs too. Typical whygee. Kudos, TREASURE rap line.

• The YG references in VolKno AAAHHH are a win for me.

• Hyunsuk, Haruto, and Yoshi adding YG artists' lyrics and references in their songs is something I live for, Blackpink’s lyrics in both Jikjin and VolKno and Mobb being referenced in VolKno too.

YG Entertainment is a powerhouse of amazing rappers and hip-hop. With 'VolKno' Treasure’s rap unit showcased their strong presence as rappers. The song is full of YG vibes and a bit of swag, so it's no wonder fans love this sub-unit’s music.
