On October 19, the '2022 Genie Music Awards' issued announced potentially fraudulent activity in the ongoing voting for the 'GMA Idolplus Global Popularity' award.

According to the announcement,

"Hello, this is Idolplus.

We have picked up on unnatural traffic suspected of being fraudulent voting for the 'GMA Idolplus Global Popularity', and measures were taken to correct the system. 

Fraudulent voting is suspected for these artists: BLACKPINK, Psy. A high amount of unusual traffic accompanied by mass voting patterns were detected.

Number of fraudulent voting: BLACKPINK (1,627,041), Psy (306,08).

Response measures: These fraudulent votes were deleted and additional tools to to prevent future occurrences of fraudulent voting have been put into place.

Date of voting restructuring: 2 PM~2:50 PM on October 20, 2022.

We will continue to monitor voting activity so that the voting remains as fair as possible.

The '2022 Genie Music Awards' is set to take place on November 8 at Namdong Gymnasium in Incheon.
