Recently, there was a commotion in the musical industry as Ock Joo Hyun sued fellow musical actor Kim Ho Young for defamation of character.

The issue began when Kim Ho Young uploaded a post that seemed to allude that Ock Joo Hyun obtained her role in the latest musical through favoritism on his social media. Kim Ho Young previously claimed the former Fin.K.L member had been cast in the 10th anniversary musical for 'Elizabeth' through personal connections and also got roles for her close acquaintances through her connection. In turn, Ock Joo Hyun filed a complaint against Kim Ho Young.

In regards to this issue, senior musical actress Kim So Hyun uploaded a statement representing all the 1st-generation of musical actors. She wrote, "Many people, including actors, staff members, and producers who love and work in the musical industry feel apologetic and responsible for the recent lawsuit that occurred in this industry. In particular, as actors of the first generation of the musical industry, we can't help but feel even more sorrowful."

She continued to say, "Even in the midst of the great disaster of COVID-19, we have all worked together to keep the life of the performing arts unbroken, and now is the time to shine even more, so we could not ignore this situation."

Actress Kim So Hyun shared the principles that musical staff and actors should keep while working in the industry and explained, "Actors should only hone their abilities in order to properly unfold the concepts of all creative teams on stage. At the heart of a musical is an ensemble of actors on stage. Therefore, all actors must love and respect fellow actors and strive to create a good atmosphere. Additionally, actors must respect the staff working behind the scenes and should not infringe on the exclusive rights of the production company such as casting rights."

She added, "Each staff member must do their best to operate the stage as well as to conduct enough practice so that the actors can focus on the performance in their own part. Additionally, production staff must treat all actors equally and strive for the safety of the actors who stands on stage when the performance begins." Kim So Hyun also said, "The production company must do its best to keep the promises it has made to the staff and actors working together, and must not make too many promises that cannot be kept. We must ensure that the performance environment is fair, not just to a few specific people, but to all the staff actors involved, and we must strive to be at the forefront of creating an environment in which everyone who participates can work with pride."

Kim So Hyun apologized, saying, "I believe the current situation has been caused due to the fact that these principle has been broken. I am deeply aware of the responsibility of the seniors who have stood by watching until the feud got to this point."

She further explained, "We hope that all musicians will participate for the sake of the musical industry. We will only be able to present a good performance and stage if we all put forth our efforts to improve and correct ourselves."
