On July 2, upon his arrival to South Korea from the US, Jimin wrote a heartfelt letter to fans on the online community platform Weverse. The focus of his words was on his just-completed trip to the US and his absence on social media, and his choice of words showed just how humble, honorable and mature he is, making fans love him even more.
The members of BTS had traveled to the US just a few days ago, where they were scheduled to visit the White House to discuss matters of Asian representation and inclusion, and especially to address the increasing cases of anti-Asian hate crimes, with the President of the US, Joe Biden. As such, the members were serving as representatives for ARMY, their fandom, which is arguably the largest and most diverse fandom in race, culture, ethnicity, age, and so on.
Jimin saw this role of representing their diverse group of fans and being their spokesperson as a highly significant and serious matter, and so he wondered if he had the capacity to carry out the duty adequately, given that it is not his everyday job and is something new to him. He felt that his 'lack of experience' in such a task might have been causing concern among fans, and he was apologetic for that. He also spoke of his absence on social media for a while now as having been another cause for concern among fans. This is the letter he wrote for fans.
News outlets like Billboard and News18, to mention a few, wrote about Jimin's experience at the White House, terming him as being full of gratitude and honor as he had expressed in his letter.
With fans being deeply touched by his words, they took to Twitter to praise him and reassure him that he did very well and that he had no reason to apologize. Additionally, it had been over a month since Jimin had made any post on any social media platform, and so fans were ecstatic to hear from him, which called for a celebration.
Consequently, Numerous tags and keywords entered Twitter trends as fans both reacted to his letter and celebrated his return.
In total, there were 6 Worldwide trends, two trends in the US, and 2 in South Korea. Overall, there were over 64 total trends with over 23 keywords in over 18 countries.
Here are some of the reactions from fans to his letter, with comments reassuring him with sweet words like he is the best representation that fans could ever ask for and that taking time away from social media is not wrong.
Despite all the great things Jimin has achieved, he still puts much thought into everything he does, trying to do it in the best way he possibly can. He remains humble and determined to grow even more, which is, in fact, the most mature thing to do, and this is why no one can resist loving him.
PROUD OF YOU JIMIN 👏👏👏👏
