Psy is in pursuit of a netizen who came up with a brilliant name for his 9th album.
On April 30, Psy took to his personal Instagram where he shared a screenshot of a Q&A platform on Naver where netizens can ask questions or share ideas like a forum. In the entry shared by Psy, back in 2020, a netizen had made a post asking for people's opinions whether "PsyDa9" would be a good name for Psy's 9th album.
Although the English name of the album is simply 'Psy's 9th,' the Korean name for the album is "PsyDa9 ('Ssa-Da-Goo')." When spoken, 'ssa-da-goo' is a rough slang that means 'a slap on the face,' a wordplay that combines the pronunciation for 'Psy' and the Korean word for the number nine.
In the caption, Psy wrote: "I am looking for a person. pio0****!!! If you contact P Nation, we will compensate you!!!"
In other news, Psy's title song "That That (prod. & feat. SUGA of BTS)" recently earned the 3rd-biggest song debut by a Korean act on Spotify's 'Global Daily Chart' this year.
He also paid choreographer Bae Yoonjung (PD 101 series) to use the abracadabra dance move in Gentleman, which was more than she received for choreographing the entire song for Brown eyes girls. I love how he never holds back when it comes to respecting copyright and creative work!
