It was reported that aespa will be performing at this year's Coachella festival.
On April 19, reps for aespa's U.S. promotions confirmed that the K-Pop girl group will be performing for the second weekend of the '2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.'
This news was published through various popular Korean news media outlets stating that aespa is the first K-pop girl group to perform on the main stage at the Coachella event.
Korean netizens and K-pop fans began refuting the article saying that Aespa is not the first girl group to perform on the main stage at the Coachella festival.
These netizens gathered in an online community where this article was shared and commented, "I clicked on this article thinking about BLACKPINK and 2NE1. They both performed on the main stage too," "I think BLACKPINK were the first girl group, tell me if I'm wrong," "I guess I wasn't the only one who thought BLACKPINK was the first girl group," "They need to edit that article," "I clicked on this post thinking, 'isn't it BLACKPINK?' lol," and "Good for them for performing at the main stage at Coachella but they weren't the first, lol."
2NE1 also performed on the main stage as part of CL/88Rising's set. If I'm not mistaken, Aespa will also be a part of 88Rising's set but on the 2nd week (so to say that they're the first group to appear on the main stage is not really true).
