The Korean Drama industry is one of the popular entertainment industries globally. Here are 3 Things I noticed about the Korean Dramas Industry in the Year 2021
1. Predominant Genres
The most popular Korean dramas in 2021 are based on survival and revenge. When we see dramas like Vincenzo", "Taxi Driver," "The Devil Judge," "My Name," "The Penthouse: War in Life" (Seasons 2 and 3), and "Reflection of You - they all gave the hint of revenge and survival.
2. New Platforms & Increased Interest
The demand for Korean dramas has increased globally in the year 2021. The industry got immense fame worldwide with 'Squid Game' at the head of the list, becoming a worldwide sensation. A new platform, KakaoTV, was launched in 2020 that immediately drew attention for its high-quality web dramas such as "A Love So Beautiful," "Lovestruck In The City," "Love Revolution," and more.
3. New Rising Stars Acknowledged Globally
New stars have popped up during this period. HoYeon Jung and Lee Yoo Mi's social media following have increased tremendously, and many fashion brands are trying to hire them as brand models.
With ever-increasing budgets and higher production values, I am eager to see what 2022 has in store for Korean dramas.
