Media outlets report on the massive impact that Jimin's trip to Jeju has had on the local tourism industry
BTS members are currently on vacation, and Jimin visited Jeju Island in December 2021, where he visited several spots and took photos which he posted on his social media account. While he was only sharing with his fans what he was up to during his resting period, Jimin inadvertently caused quite a stir across the globe, with all his photos gaining more than 10 million likes on Instagram within just a short period of them being uploaded. In addition, the areas he had visited quickly gained traction and attracted a high number of visitors, who also took photos in the same locations and posted them on their social media.
In effect, the Jeju Tourism Organization set up different measures to commemorate Jimin's visit and also to further boost the local economy that has been ailing due to the adverse effects of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
For example, a 'special Jimin photo zone' was set up on Nuwemaru Street, where Jimin had visited and taken a photo so that fans could have a more meaningful experience when they visit and take photos in the area. Reports show that other photo zones that were there previously have been removed, but Jimin's would stay up for longer.
Additionally, the local tourism organization also organized for a 'Jimin Photo Zone Certification Event' where fans could take photos in all the areas where Jimin visited, and post the photos on the organization's website [visitjeju.net]. There will be prizes for a random 200 contestants in this event.
Several South Korean and international media outlets have reported on this considerable impact that Jimin's visit to Jeju has had on the local economy, emphasizing his power and influence. Major television channels like KBS, JIBS, and YONHAP NEWS have reported about this impact repeatedly.
Some of the reports also mention Jimin's birthday project back in 2021, where his Chinese fanbase collaborated with Jeju Air to exclusively customize an airplane for him, with his images on the inflight cups, tickets, and the plane itself. This project lasted for 3 months, and it saw several people wanting to visit Jeju if only to fly on the Jimin airplane, as seen from Korean netizens' reactions [read here].
Other print media outlets like YONHAP NEWS and YAHOO NEWS, among others, have also made various publications on Jimin's impact on Jeju. Here are some of them.
There has been much attention to his visit and the impact it has created due to his influence and brand king status. Jimin has been the #1 idol in brand reputation ranking for individual boy group members for 35 consecutive months and 37 months overall as of November 2021. As such, it is expected that anything associated with him gains much interest from fans and from the media.
Jimin's impact is undeniable and powerful!
