STAR CONTRIBUTOR
BTS Jimin, whose birthday is on October 13, received another perfect gift. Jimin’s solo song “Filter”
from BTS’s Map of the Soul:7 album has now officially sold more than 200,000
units in the United States. Filter is the first and only solo song from MOTS:7 album to sell more than 200K units in the U.S. It is by far the highest selling Korean solo song in the US in 2020.
After the two-day BTS’s online concert MOTS ON:E, Jimin received countless praises due to an exceptional live performance of “Filter”. Jimin immediately trended in the United States and worldwide after #FilterFirstStage and in many other countries in different online sites.
Further, after Jimin’s live performance, “Filter” has re-entered the U.S. iTunes and peaked at #39. It was earlier reported that Filter previously peaked at #1 on US iTunes on July 13th. It continued to chart in the U.S. iTunes even more than 24 hours from the end of MOTS ON:E or until the time of this writing.
Filter’s popularity in the United State was initially proven when the song peaked at #1 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart week of October 10th. Filter has remained on the chart for 30 weeks. It continues to be one of the most popular international songs in the United States since its release on Feburary 21, 2020.
Additionally, Filter is still currently the No. 1 Best Selling Song of 2020 on US Amazon. Jimin has impressively outranked songs from internationally known-artists such as
The Weekend, Tones and I, Post Malone and Billie Eilish.
Going back in time, Filter became the #81 most-played song on USApple Music a day after its release. It was recognized to be the highest charting song by a Korean solo artist on US Apple Music.
Jimin’s “Filter” has achieved so much in the United States even without any promotion or live performance. Hence, now one could just imagine what else could this latin-vibe achieve now that the world has seen how exceptional its live stage is.
The #FilterFirstStage fancam reached 1M views only within 8 hours, the fastest to reach such record and now has 1.6M views.
