K-pop voting app IDOL CHAMP had started a poll askingfans asking which idols would suit the character Prince Jasmine from 'Aladdin.' Thousands of votes by fans from all around the world came in during the time where the poll was open from February 14th to 24th. Strong nominees includes Red Velvet's Joy, GFRIEND's SinB, Cosmic Girls' SeolA, ITZY's Ryujin, as well as (G)I-DLE's Soojin.

Eventually, it was Red Velvet's Joy who beat out the other contenders by a huge margin and clinch the title. Princess Jasmine is a fictional character who appears in Walt Disney Pictures' 31st animated feature film 'Aladdin'. Jasmine from Aladdin is rather multilayered character; incredibly independent and strong in many ways. She isn't afraid to speak her mind, no matter who she's up against. Aside from this, Jasmine is extremely compassionate and caring. These traits are akin to Red Velvet's Joy, who is known to be strong and dare to speak up what's on her mind and at the same time being a compassionate and caring lady. It was also announced earlier that Joy, Seulgi and Yeri had donated ~30 Million Korean won to relief COVID-19 situation. It is thus no doubt that why fans adore Red Velvet's Joy so much and find similarities between her and the well-received character, Jasmine.

Fans have also agreed that if a Korean remake of 'Aladdin' was ever produced, Red Velvet's Joy should play Princess Jasmine.
