Fans have been waiting for G-Dragon’s discharge date after he had been absent from the entertainment world for over a year. The BIGBANG leader enlisted to the military on February 18, 2018, and entered the 3rd Infantry Division training center on February 27.
Before South Korea implemented the reduced military service time, the 31-year-old singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, entrepreneur, and fashion icon was scheduled to be released in November 2019. But after the implementation, G-Dragon’s discharge date is going to be sooner than expected.
Dubbed as the “King of K-Pop,” many are describing the BIGBANG star’s upcoming return as G-Dragon reclaiming his throne. The YG Entertainment artist is arguably one of the most, if not the most, popular and successful K-pop stars in the industry, which is why fans have been patiently waiting for G-Dragon’s discharge date.
VIPs could start counting down the days until G-Dragon’s discharge date as he is returning soon to the public eye. Instead of November 2019, G-Dragon’s discharge date is moved to October 26, 2019.
Being an active YG Entertainment artist, G-Dragon’s discharge from the military could lessen all the negativity surrounding the agency. The label has been plagued with controversy this year, and the sales of the company are at its all-time low.
With the BIGBANG star’s popularity and fanbase, it is safe to say that the upcoming completion of his mandatory military service could be the saving grace of YG Entertainment. However, some are not too happy with G-Dragon’s discharge date as they felt that his time in the military was short.
Previous South Korean military enlisters, including celebrities, served for at least two years. G-Dragon and the future enlisters will serve a lot less time in the military.
Meanwhile, G-Dragon also faced his controversy during his enlistment. The BIGBANG leader had been accused of receiving special treatment and violating military service rules.
It was previously reported that G-Dragon allegedly admitted in a VIP hospital room with air-conditioning, a refrigerator, and a TV, a room classified as a “colonel room” for his ankle surgery while completing his military service. He was also accused of using 33 leaves out of the supposed 30 leaves.
The Ministry of National Defense denied all the allegations, stating that G-Dragon never received any sort of special treatment during surgery as the hospital that he was admitted to didn’t have a “colonel room.” Also, the national defense noted that the BIGBANG star only spent 26 days of leave so far and not 33.
Can’t wait for his comeback...
