Song Joong Ki’s attorney has revealed more information about the circumstances behind the actor’s decision to file for divorce.
On June 27, lawyer Park Jae Hyun officially announced that Song Joong Ki had filed for a divorce from his wife Song Hye Kyo after a year and a half of marriage. The actor also released a statement in which he apologized to his fans and shared that he hoped for an amicable divorce.
Later on, in an interview with Korean newspaper Hankook Ilbo, a spokesperson for the law firm representing Song Joong Ki stated, “Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are in complete agreement about the decision to get a divorce.”
When asked why the couple had not then opted for a collaborative divorce if they were in agreement, the lawyer responded, “The reason that they are not proceeding with an uncontested divorce is because there was a slight difference of opinion about the details of their divorce, so there was a need to reconcile [those differences of opinion].”
“However,” the lawyer added, “we cannot reveal the details in question out of respect for our client’s personal life.”
Earlier in the day, Song Hye Kyo’s agency released a statement explaining the reasons for the couple’s divorce.

Song Joong Ki moved out months ago and filed for divorce himself. That's not a "collaborative" divorce.
That's a "I don't want to be married to this woman a moment past right now" divorce.
