BlackPink sold out tickets for its first North American tour "BLACKPINK 2019 WORLD TOUR with Kia [IN YOUR AREA]," showing overwhelming ticket power.
"From the first performance in Los Angeles on April 17, tickets for six concerts in six cities including Chicago on April 24, Hamilton on April 27, Newark on May 1, Atlanta on May 5 and Fort Worth on May 8 have all been sold out," YG Entertainment said on May 22. It is an Arena-class concert hall with more than 10,000 seats per venue.
Even performance officials are surprised, saying, "It's amazing that we've been working hard at the Arena level, but we didn't expect it to be done all at once." This is a reminder of the popularity of BlackPink, which has grown into a global girl group through high entry barriers in the U.S., which leads the world's pop music market.
Thanks to enthusiastic support from fans, they are even considering additional performances.
BlackPink's music video, "DDU DU DDU DU," released in June last year, currently has 670 million views, the highest record among K-pop groups. BlackPink is also a K-pop group with the largest number of subscribers, surpassing 19.3 million on YouTube. In August last year, K-pop girl group received the Diamond Creator Awards from YouTube for the first time.
"SQUARE UP" and "DDU DU DDU DU" both ranked 40th in the U.S. Billboard's main chart "Billboard 200" and 55th in "Hot 100" respectively, ranking K-pop girl group at the top of K-pop group's history, and also named K-pop girl group "Official Singles Chart Top 100" for the first time.
BlackPink, which had recently made a bold challenge to the global market due to its contract with U.S. Interscope Records, made a strong impression on local viewers when it appeared on popular TV shows including CBS's late show with Stephen Colbert and ABC's 'Good Morning America' "
BlackPink will launch its first North American tour on April 12 and 19, the first female K-pop idol to stage the "Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival," the biggest music festival in the U.S.
