BTS' remarkable achievements are continuing into Japan.
On December 20, Oricon, the major Japanese music chart, released the rankings for the 'Top 10 Artist Sales of 2018.' Oricon tallied the total sales of artists in Japan from December 11, 2017 to December 8, 2018.
The Big Hit Entertainment boy group is at #6 for making 5.27 billion yen (47 million USD) in sales. This is the first time BTS entered the top 10 for sales in Japan. They are also the only foreign act on this year's top 10 ranking.
Back in April, BTS released the 3rd Japanese album 'Face Yourself,' which has been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
I miss SMAP.......
Congrats to BTS, though! Hoping to see Twice there next year and for music to continue to break socio-political barriers between the two countries. Also can't wait for Big Bang's return. I lived in Japan when they broke onto the scene there. It was great to watch my kids in class rocking out to Korean lyrics.
