In season 3 of the 'Produce 101' series with Korean and Japanese trainees, veteran idol star and former SISTAR member Soyu joined as a mentor. On the competition show, Soyu cared for the contestants by providing heartfelt advice.
She said, "I believed it'll be helpful if I can share the feelings I felt with them. So there were times when I was harsh."
Soyu named Chaeyeon as a memorable contestant, and said, "I felt like I was looking at myself through Chaeyeon."
In the last stage of 'Produce 48', Soyu was captured shedding tears. The idol shared she became emotional as she knew what the girls have gone through, and this is also why she will not participate in any new seasons.
Soyu explained, "I've already told the producers that I won't be able to join next season. It was so hard seeing girls getting eliminated and it was hurtful whenever I made harsh comments. So I don't have the confidence to join the next season."
