Idols that support the LGBTQ Community

Bang Yong Guk, Ren, Ji Eun, Dongwan, Vernon, Eric Nam, Hansol, MAMAMOO, Crush, Wonho, Chaeyoung, Hansol
1. Hansol
Hansol came out as asexual during a live SNS session and then has been continuously open about his queer identity through interactions on his Instagram. His Instagram post explaining more about his identity to the Korean public was one of empowerment and a call for society to be more accepting.
2. TWICE Chaeyoung
In the past, Chaeyoung shared a blog post for her fans about how she watched the movie 'Carol,' a love story between two women, and encouraged her fans to be more open-minded, saying that love is love.
3. Song Ji Eun & B.A.P Bang Yong Guk
Before the release of Song Ji Eun's song "Don't Look at Me Like That," which Bang Yong Guk wrote the lyrics for, their entertainment company TS Entertainment informed the media that this song would be about love that society criticized, whether it be interracial relationships or homosexual couples. And the lyrics although do not specifically say exactly what relationship they are talking about, indeed send a powerful message.

"We're just in love, that's all Don't hate on us, however you're viewing us We're just a little different Just leave us alone"
4. Seventeen Vernon
In April of 2017, during a V app stream, Vernon said he watched 'Moonlight,' an LGBT film, with his mom to his fans.
5. Eric Nam
Eric Nam famously refused to dress up as Hong Suk Chun, arguably one of the most famous openly gay Korean celebritie, on 'SNL Korea' stating that he refused to play into the stereotyping and poking fun at the LGBTQ community. Go Eric!
6. MAMAMOO
After the blackface scandal that MAMAMOO faced, for performing blackface to Bruno Mars at their concert, they uploaded an apology on their Facebook page. They apologized for their deeds and commended their fans for educating them about the history and insensitivity of their actions. They also made sure to spell out that MAMAMOO was a group supportive of all peoples from all backgrounds. "We love and care so much for all people of every race, sexuality, religion, and gender."
7. MONSTA X Wonho
MONSTA X's Wonho stated that his ideal type was someone who could cook ramen well and that gender didn't matter to him.
8. NU'EST Ren
NU'EST Ren has been a gem in the Korean idol scene pushing the boundaries of the industry's strict gender norms. In 2016, in a Chinese online mall campaign, Ren wore what society deems as female clothes but completely rocked the look anyways. He then took to his Twitter and Instagram to push out those images and even talked about how he enjoyed the outfits and photo shoot.
9. Crush & Planet Shiver
In 2015, Crush and Planet Shiver teamed up and released "Rainbow," a song talking about how there are so many different people in the world and how people shouldn't feel pressured to change or assimilate. The lyrics may be a little vague, but the music video clearly shows a range of people with different sexualities and races, confirming their support for these various communities.
10. Shinhwa Dongwan
Shinhwa's Dongwan played Hedwig in the musical 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch,' where he was a genderqueer rockstar. During an interview talking about his role, Dongwan made it very clear that he was supportive of the homosexual community. "I'm a Christian and I'm not a homosexual, but I wish the issue over homosexuals would go beyond the surface. When I say this to people around me, they say, if you're like that, your child is going to become gay. Why do they think like that when being gay isn't some infectious disease?"
