Yonghwa officially started his mandatory military service in the midst of much controversy last month, but it seems he showed exceptional talent during his 5 weeks of basic training. On April 13, FNC Entertainment announced, "Yonghwa recently finished his 5 weeks of basic military training at the training center with exceptional results. He's been assigned to the 702nd Special Assault Regiment in the Second Corps after he volunteered."
The label continued, "Yonghwa will carry out his military service dutifully and in good health in the future. Please support him until the day he returns safely. Thank you."
The 702nd regiment, also known as the 'Phoenix Unit', is known as South Korea's first special forces unit created in October of 1982.
In other news, Yonghwa's Japanese single "Letter" drops on May 21.
