On January 5, IU unveiled the MV for the remake track and shared, "As a loving fan of his music, I'd like to express my respect and memory to Kim Kwang Suk with this beautiful song sung with all my sincerity."

Originally, "With the Heart to Forget You" remake was scheduled to be released in IU's album 'Flower Bookmark Two' back in September. However, the singer decided to remove the remake from the album as the controversy surrounding his suspicious death resurfaced. Now months later, IU decided to ultimately share the beautiful song in memory of the 22nd year since his death.
