The former 2NE1 member is expanding her career in acting with her first film 'One Step', an upcoming role in the movie version of 'Cheese in the Trap', and more. However, as an idol-turned-actress, Dara has been continuously criticized for her ''poor'' performance. Many viewers pointed out that her high-pitched voice makes it difficult to concentrate on her acting.
Regarding the criticism, Dara said, "I have a unique tone of my own. I was criticized for poor acting and there were times when I was intimidated."

She explained, "To be honest, my parts in 2NE1's ballad tracks were very few. They had a sad vibe but I was told that my voice tone doesn't suit them. 'Missing You' is one of them. My parts were especially short in the sad songs. In the past, I purposely sang in a low tone but I'm naturally high-pitched so it didn't change so easily."
However, Dara expressed her strong determination regardless, saying, "I learned a lot through experiences. I also desire to convince the public with my voice. I changed my mindl to focus on my positive qualities rather than the negatives. I have the desire to make the discomfort [my voice causes] go away."
Fighting, Dara!
