JYJ's Junsu has responded to the ongoing controversy after selling his property, the Toscana Hotel on Jeju Island.
On February 7, Junsu wrote on Instagram, "I'm leaving the entertainment world for a year and 9 months, so I thought I'd just close my eyes and ignore it," referring to his upcoming military enlistment. He continued, "However, I think it's now gone from defamation of character to character assassination. I have never profited from injustice or committed immoral conduct. Reports are making it seem as if I'm a person who took advantage to profit and left or took money from the public, but that's not true. The truth is different. I even took money out of my own real estate and accounts to pay my employees."
He concluded, "The reason I chose to sell is because professional businessmen advised me that it was better for the hotel and the employees' future."
Though C-JeS Entertainment didn't comment previously, the agency has now come out to say, "He's very apologetic to cause fans to worry just before his enlistment because of these negative reports. However, we think it's best to correct the reports that are wrong... Once again, we want to apologize to the people who trust and love Junsu. He promises to dutifully finish his military enlistment and return."
In a statement, the agency acknowledged the Toscana Hotel was having trouble with its budget. Because of Junsu's affection for the business, he decided it was best to leave matters to a more experienced third party, especially with his enlistment coming up. C-JeS also denied that Junsu made his money and ran as he's still supporting the management and plans to continue his involvement with the hotel. In conclusion, the label asserted there was never any delay in employee payment.
