Roy Kim guested on the August 5 installment of 'Talents for Sale' and discussed the time he spent abroad as an international student in North America. 
When Kim Se Jung asked him the reason he left Korea to study abroad, Roy Kim replied, "Around the time I was finishing up fourth grade, it was also around the time my older sister was preparing for her college entrance exams. My parents said that they didn't think they'd be able to keep a close eye on me until my sister was done with her exams so they suggested I go study abroad."

Roy Kim added, "At the time, I was so happy to be away from my mom's nagging. When I was in Korea, I was forced do all kinds of extracurricular activities, but when I was abroad, I spent my time playing basketball after school."
