An elderly man who was excited for the return of his children back home for the Chuseok holiday, put his life in danger carrying over 10kg (~22 lb.) worth of pig's feet on his bicycle.
On October 1, Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency's official Facebook page shared an account from two officers with an elderly gentleman and his touching tale.
The day before the Chuseok holiday, the officers were on patrol as usual when they found an elderly man collapsed on the side of a busy road. When the old man recounted his tale, the officers discovered that grandpa had crashed into the ground, unable to bear the heavy weight of the pig's feet on his bike, which he had purchased specially for his children who were homebound for the holiday.
Realizing that it would be dangerous to send the grandpa home alone lest he get into an accident, the officers decided to escort him back home. When they tried to lift the bundle of pig's feet to carry it to their patrol car, they found that its weight was unwieldy for even someone of a brawny stature.
The elderly man's wife, who was waiting by at the edge of the village, was shocked beyond belief to see that her husband had returned with police officers. After hearing the officers' explanation, the woman was greatly relieved, and said, "He usually comes home within the hour but I was worried because today it took him over three hours. I shouldn't have told him to buy pig's feet," thanking the officers for bringing her husband home safe and sound.
