Lee Si Young has written a letter on this issue, saying, "Although I thought that maybe I could [box] one last time and worked hard to exercise more and more for it, I have yet to fully recover from the last National Sports Festival when I dislocated my shoulder." She continued, "Even so, I desperately wanted to participate in this year's National Sports Festival at Jeju Island and worked hard to exercise for it; but it has become difficult to participate in the competition due to my injury."
She then apologized to those who were a great support to her during her boxing career, saying, "First, to my team, who always cheers me on and with whom I will not be able to [compete], to the Incheon City Hall members and the supervisor, and to the athletes who sweat with me, I step forward with a greatly apologetic heart." She added, "I am extremely sorry to the fans of Lee Si Young the boxer than Lee Si Young the celebrity for always coming out to the stadium to cheer me on."
She cheered on her Incheon teammates, saying, "Our Incheon athletes will surely gain the results they each want and deserve after working hard for this National Sports Festival." She said, "As someone affiliated with Incheon, I will be watching [the Incheon athletes] gathering [victories] one by one and working towards the goal of winning. Although I cannot be in the same position [as you] cheering us on together, my heart is always with Incheon's boxing."
She concluded with a thankful note, saying, "It was really great to have been an Incheon City Hall boxer together [with you]. Thank you."
As Lee Si Young considered this to be her last competition, it seems as though the actress was having thoughts of retiring from her boxing career. Lee Si Young's label J Wide Company stated, "We have yet to decide whether or not [Lee Si Young] will completely retire from being a boxer."
Despite the unfortunate series of events, Lee Si Young has shown her dedication to the Incheon Athletic Association by donating 10 million won (approx. $9,400 USD) for the improvement of its equipment and facilities.
