MY LOVELY GIRL, EPISODE 3
RECAP
Hyun Wook formally introduces himself as the president of ANA Entertainment, and is beset by people working to take him down. He also inducts Se Na into Seo Jae Yoon's songwriting team, but she will not be taken in until she passes the monthly review and is given no space to practice, burdened by menial tasks. Hyun Wook is sent to an important meeting with a potential investor who is a serious byuntae and uncle fan, but the new president botches the deal by bringing the investor's wife around whom he won't show any impropriety.
Meanwhile, Shi Woo throws a birthday bash, and bandmate Rae Hoon shows the crowd some rather unflattering footage of Shi Woo. Of course this erupts into a fistfight between the two boys. At the monthly review, Se Na is given a pass by Hyun Wook, who then has to defend his decision by critiquing the other idols. Jae Yoon proposes a battle of the bands, him against Se Na. Hyun Wook agrees, and he and Se Na talk afterward. She informs him she's angry that she can't get along with her co-workers because of his nepotism. He tells her that he believes in her, and that it's been a long time since he could listen to music without being pained by it...

MY TAKE
We certainly saw our share of idols in this one, including FIESTAR and Shinsadong Tiger, who doesn't look a thing like I imagined. I somehow thought he would look like a modern day samurai... Hyun Wook's half-sister, played by T-ara N4 member Dani, also shows up as an aspiring singer who doesn't make the cut at the monthly review. And of course L makes an appearance. He does a bang-up job at being the jerk you love to hate.
FIESTAR at the monthly review
We have fantastic examples of boardroom intrigue here, such as Jae Yoon vying for the president's position--and he certainly has his backers. The only problem I have with the power plays is that Hyun Wook appears untouchable. In the music industry, you're only as good as your last album, and that was years ago. With the music battle, for example, there's no tension. You know she's going to beat Jae Yoon and be allowed to stay at the company. They need to do more to build doubt as to whether everything's going to be remain as the status quo.
Se Na and Shinsadong Tiger
This drama is rather unique in that we have a love triangle with some of the secondary characters, but not the main ones. Ah Reum uses Rae Hoon to make Shi Woo jealous, but that's it. Hae Yoon still makes subtle moves, but Hyun Wook brushes her off. When Se Na asks straight out if he's interested, he says no. I'd like to see where this is going. There should be a triangle. :P
So, are we going to have a love triangle with Hyun Wook or not? And who will make the first move? Is Se Na likely to beat Jae Yoon's challenge with no training at all? Or is something rather unique going to happen that will allow her to stay employed? Am I ever going to stop asking questions? What do you guys think?
The boys stop when Se Na hollers at them.
