On July 24th, a shocking clip of Seo Se Won assaulting his wife Seo Jung Hee was revealed to the public. Afterwards, Seo Se Won's legal team spoke up and commented on the issue. Strangely, instead of addressing Seo Se Won's violence, they sought to clear up some smaller accusations Seo Jung Hee had made against her husband.

On the July 24th broadcast of MBC's 'Real Story Eye', Seo Jung Hee explained that her husband's outburst was due to her accusations of him having an affair. She claimed that she had found his behavior suspicious. She stated that she had found a text message from a woman saying, "Go with XXoppa~ I want to rest at home," which led to some suspicions.
"My husband told me that he was coming back from Japan, but he had actually been in Hong Kong spending money," she stated. "When I asked to see his passport, he suddenly said his stomach hurt, went to the bathroom, came back, and showed me the passport then. He did this to erase his passport history."
According to Seo Se Won's legal team, "The issue regarding the text message is a misunderstanding. He was going with some people he knew, including the woman, but he did not have that kind of relationship with her."
They added in defense of the comedian-turned-clergyman who recently had to close his church, "It's not like the clergyman is doing well for himself right now nor does he have money, so he says there would be no reason for a perfectly fine woman to stick to him with sincerity."
Seo Jung Hee, however, maintains that their problems are bigger than just the alleged affair or the money. "If nothing serious were going on, I wouldn't be doing this," she states. "If I were dragging this conflict over one text message, then there would be something wrong with me."
