On the recent recording of MBC's 'Quiz to Change the World,' both Girl's Day's Sojin and Hong Jin Young surprised everybody by revealing they had run away from their homes when they were younger.
Sojin said, "I wanted to become a singer, so I ran away from home without my parents' knowing when I was twenty years old." At the time, she was attending a university in Daegu. She said, "I wrote a letter and placed it in my father's shoe, packed my things, then went up to Seoul in secret.
While staying in my friend's rented room, there was no part-time work I didn't do, including internet phone adviser, bar server, socks factory worker. With the money I earned, I enrolled in an institute and learned to sing and dance."
Also on the show, a surprise letter secretly sent to Sojin by her mother was revealed. Looking at her mother's sincerity in the letter moved Sojin to tears.

Sojin proved to not be alone in this as singer Hong Jin Young said, "When I was in the third year of junior high school, I ran away and rented out a room." She explained that she had been very immature during her school days, only wanting to play with her friends and live freely. Eventually, she and her friends worked together and boldly ran away from home.
She said, "As soon as I ran away, I went to a building and rented out a room. I was going to do a welcoming party, but was caught after one night and two days by parents who had followed me," also revealing that she settled down after seeing her parents in tears.
