A drama rep told Ilgan Sports, "IU has received the casting offer for 'Trot Lovers' and is positively reviewing it... There is a good chance she will be cast... IU played the character of a female high school student with singing ability in the drama 'Dream High'. This character also suits IU in various aspects. The bright female lead character also coincides with IU."

A KBS rep commented, "It's true that we have sent over the script to IU, but there are others whom we have also sent scripts to, so it's at a stage where we're just getting organized and making contact with the candidates."

This news especially has fans' attention for if she does decide to take this on, then she could possibly star alongside one of her best friends Yoo In Na's boyfriend, actor Ji Hyun Woo! As she and Yoo In Na are known to be extremely close, fans wonder how the two would joke about the situation.

As mentioned before, 'Trot Lovers' portrays the success story of a woman in her twenties who has a talent for singing trot and meets a genius composer who helps her to become a trot singer. KBS also plans to pick up their viewer ratings by diverting from the heavy melodrama genre like 'Full Sun', 'Golden Cross', and 'Big Man', and portraying a romantic comedy with 'Trot Lovers'.

It is currently set to enter filming this month and follow 'Big Man' this June!
