It's about that time for another round of Confessions of an Uncle Fan. On today's episode we get caught up on the many comebacks of some of our favorite girl groups, the Uncle Fan acknowledges some constructive criticism in the Mailbag, and some good news for one of my favorite singers. There's a lot to cover so here we go.

The Comeback Kids
April must be the month of the comeback as three of the most popular girl groups will all be making their returns to the stage. 4minute will release their new EP on the 25th, the T-ara subunit T-ara N4 on the 29th, and SECRET on the 30th. The fans of all three groups are surely excited but I think there might be a little extra anticipation for the T-ara subunit return (and debut) because they've been out of the spotlight for so long and the level of scrutiny they will face stemming from the member controversy. Three groups in April, probably a few more coming back in May... this is like uncle fan Christmas.







I Would Like to Be a Student at Sungkyunkwan University Right About Now
I saw that KARA's Jiyoung and f(x)'s Krystal were handing out food and snacks to fellow students at Sungkyunkwan University where the two attend college. Lucky ducks... The only thing I got in college was a fatigued liver and a free t-shirt to sign up for a credit card (which I totally maxed out in the first month).



I Would Not Like to Be a Reporter from Sports Seoul Right About Now
Sport Seoul just kicked the hornets nest with their report that a mystery idol (who appears to be miss A's Suzy) has displayed a poor attitude and is not fun to work with. I can only imagine the hordes of Netizens descending like a plague of digital locusts upon the media outlet. Also, to the young lady reporter on the video: is a hooded sweatshirt really appropriate clothing for someone who's supposedly delivering news? Go to Uniqlo or something and class it up a bit. I'm sorry... that was totally uncalled for but my angry, inner Suzy uncle fan just came out.



The New 2NE1 and Will.I.AM Song That Isn't What We Really Wanted
I'm sure you've heard the new song from Will.I.AM featuring Park Bom and CL called "Getting Dumb". While it's cool to hear the ladies on a new single, when is their BIG U.S. album supposed to come out? Remember back in 2009 when news first broke that 2NE1 would be working with the�Black Eyed Peas front man and fans were totally excited about the prospects of this super awesome partnership? Seems like it's taking an awful long time to make that album but I'm sure everyone working on this is smarter than me so I'll just assume that waiting four years for an album is routine; like the Olympics, Presidential Voting, and World Cup.



Baek Ji Young Getting Married
I've always liked Baek Ji Young and had a soft spot for her since she went through a frighteningly public humiliation. When it was announced that she and boyfriend Jung Suk Won were getting married, I was genuinely happy. If you don't know who the lucky guy is, go watch him on the New Zealand episodes of 'Laws of the Jungle'; he's the good looking dude catching lobsters in his underwear.

The Taeyeon Experiment

I didn't know people would be so annoyed. "We get that you are a HUGE fan of Taeyeon but come on dude, this post is becoming way too redundant and boring to be honest."

I'm honestly not biased towards any particular group but I do like Taeyeon more than the average girl group member. Is that wrong? Have I violated some unwritten rule? All I'm doing is posting a picture every week and hoping that somehow, some way Taeyeon might notice. Sorry you don't find it entertaining but I won't be giving up just yet.

I'm just facing my own facts. "What shock[ed] me is that the author is younger than Tony An yet calls himself "Uncle"? C'mon, [younger than] 36 is still young! I'm 30 this year, am I already in the "Auntie" zone?"

I'm not trying to label or speak for anyone other than myself. You should call yourself whatever you feel is right but... I'm also in my early 30's and when I see a group like 4minute with a member born in 1994, it ain't older brother territory anymore.

My Top 5 Current Girl Groupers

Taeyeon - Yes, I'm biased towards Taeyeon. The same way I'm biased towards the season of Autumn, the color blue, and breakfast foods. It's just who I am.
Suzy - Making some serious commercial cash and now in a new drama with Lee Seung Gi that I should start watching. Life is good for Suzy.
Yubin/Lim - The two idols were guests on Seo In Young's 'Star Beauty Show' and while my knowledge of beauty products is about the same as my knowledge of theoretical physics, I couldn't miss seeing me some Wonder Girls.
Hyeri - Hyeri has received some negativity from the whole dating Tony An thing, but the girl is 18 years old and she had an older, famous/legendary singer showing interest in her. How could she not have interest back? All she needs is a some guidance from her mother and she'll be alright. I wonder what her dad must be thinking though...
Lee Hyori - The Queen is returning in May? Oh shoot... time for this old fanboy to get ready.

Song of the Week

I'm a sucker for a good ballad and one that I just heard for the first time recently is Ali's new song, "Eraser". Not only is Ali's voice unique but I find out that actress Choi Ji Woo is the star of the video. Well, that makes this the song of the week for sure.
