Rapper Double K and his rookie partner Kwon Hyuk Woo have been named the final winners of Mnet's 'Show Me the Money'.
The final episode broadcast on August 10th with a finale performance of the artists fighting for the winning position. Kwon Hyuk Woo (a.k.a. Loco) had won first place in the solo stages of the rookie rappers and followed up with a collaboration stage with Double K as the final performance of the night.
Cuts of the two rehearsing for "Home" was also shown, as the song features personally written lyrics by Kwon Hyuk Woo about things he would like to say to his mother. Unable to hold back his emotions, he choked back tears through the entire rehearsal.
Their stage featured a piano performance and a slow tempo that served well as a backdrop to their collaboration of "Home". Kwon Hyuk Woo lulled the audience with his message of reflection and growth, as well as his feelings on his father's passing. In the end, the duo came away with a total of 50 million KRW in prize money and a final win.
Double K expressed, "When the winners were announced, Double K was called, but I believe the rightful name to be called was Loco. I'm not as brave as he is so I had a tendency to beat around the bush, but it was Hyuk Woo that pulled all of this out of me. It was because of him that this win was possible."
In a separate interview, the two expressed, "We're happy to have won, but what's more meaningful is that we raised public interest in Korean hip hop."
