Girl group miss A has returned to the K-pop scene for the first time in 7 months. The girls who displayed fierce feminine charms with their powerful performances in the past will be expressing a more mature, sexier appeal for their new album promotions.
The girls definitely looked more mature when Asia Today caught up with them at a local cafe. Their lacy outfits played up their sexiness and throughout their interview, they stressed their determination to show a completely new 'miss A' through their music, their choreography, their appearance, and more.
The group's new song "Touch" was released on February 20th and immediately climbed to the top of the charts, and is still maintaining it's high rank. Their MV received over a million hits in a single day, and is also receiving much interest overseas, even ranking as the #1 MV on major Chinese video site, yinyuetai.com.
"We're so excited to greet our Korean fans for the first time in so long," they said. "We worked hard to thoroughly prepare each part of our comeback, including the dance moves, our performances, our outfits, and more. When you see us on stage, you'll feel like you're watching a project performance. Beyonce's very own choreographer Jonte put together the moves for our dance. Please look forward to another one of miss A's transformations."
Their new song "Touch" is different from the other bubbly songs they promoted in the past. Their feminine charms can be felt through the melody of the song, as well as through the moves of the dance. The lyrics that sing of the hurt that comes from love, but being able to start a new love within that pain is especially honest and appealing, and the addictive melody is sure to hook listeners everywhere.
"We showed you a lot of fierce and chic sides to us in the past," they continued. "Our dance moves were aggressive, and our facial expressions made us look rather cold, and I think that image stuck with us. We want to break free from that image. We want to show you that miss A can also be fragile and feminine. It's a little burdensome, but we are confident we can do well. Please look forward to it."
miss A who is one of the leading girl groups of the nation expressed their thoughts on the growing number of idol groups that are emerging onto the K-pop scene.
"There were a lot of groups that made their entrance even a little after we debuted," they began. "The more rookie groups debuted, the more we decided that we needed to find our own unique musical colors. We learn a lot from our juniors who work really hard to succeed. We want to work hard, remembering how we felt when we first debuted."
miss A wrapped up their promotions in Korea last year, and traveled to China to promote overseas. Greeting their fans in Beijing, Shanghai, Taiwan, and more, miss A proved that they were one of the top stars in Asia today.
The girls continued, "We featured on television variety programs, radio broadcasts, and more. It was nice to have Fei and Jia who speak fluent Chinese. We didn't have a huge issue communicating, and they ordered food for us that suited our tastes (laughs). Taiwan airs more music programs than they do in Beijing and Shanghai, and they seemed to know more about us and knew most of our new songs. They sang along with the Korean words, and also held up signs that were written in Korean."
Hallyu is continuing to creates waves not only in Asia but overseas in the US, Europe, and South America, but miss A does not feel anxious. Their first priority is to become the top stars in Asia, and from there they will tackle other parts of the globe.
"As you know, half of our members are Chinese and therefore we want to first actively tackle the Asian market. When asked who the greatest Asian group is, we want to hear 'miss A'," they admitted. "Seeing our seniors tackle the US and European markets makes us proud to be a part of K-pop. But for now, we want to focus on becoming the best in Asia and go from there."
