Top composers name 2012's most anticipated artists

Posted by VITALSIGN42 pts Thursday, December 15, 2011

Just like last year, 2011 had with many rookie debuts -- some managed to stand out from the crowd, while others faded into the mist. Thanks to new audition programs and survival music shows, the list of new artists are as long as ever, with rookies taking fame to new heights thanks to the global success of K-Pop. Star News recently surveyed the industry's top composers (Yoon Il Sang, Jo Young Soo, Brave Brothers, E-TRIBE, Lee Min Soo, and Shinsadong Tiger) on who they were looking forward to in 2012. -- Shinsadong Tiger, who's created a number of hits this year like T-ara's 'Roly-Poly', B2ST's 'Fiction', and 'Trouble Maker', chose A Pink, Noel, and Ulala Session. He explained, "A Pink represents the innocent nature of girl groups. Since they have a style that makes people feel nostalgic over '90s-era girl groups, I'm curious to see how they'll evolve." Moving onto Noel, he stated, "This year, Noel managed to bring out emotions that people had been forgetting with their music. They basically quenched a thirst people didn't even know they had. As such, I'm anticipating a lot from them next year." As for Ulala Session, he stated, "I was deeply moved upon seeing their stage. I think we'll be able to see an even bigger energy coming from them next year." -- Composer Lee Min Soo, who's responsible for hits like the Brown Eyed Girls' 'Abracadabra' as well as IU's 'Good Day' and 'You and I', chose A Pink as well, in addition to INFINITE and Huh Gak. Lee Min Soo began, "A Pink has a lot of hidden potential and a diverse fanbase, where as INFINITE is truly on the rise as an idol group. Huh Gak is able to use his voice alone to bring out emotions from people." -- Composer, producer, and NAP Entertainment CEO Choi Kap Soo chose C-Real, Boyfriend, A Pink, and M.I.B. "A Pink has a good overall image and they have a freespirited appeal on stage. Boyfriend is a unique team, since both an image of a boy and a masculine man exist in one group. As opposed to what they're doing now, I'm looking forward to how they'll be growing in the future." On M.I.B., he said, "They have a stage presence unlike any rookie, and the fact that they're of the hip hop genre makes them stand out." Jo Young Soo, who's also the highest paid composer of the year thanks to his work with SG Wannabe, Orange Caramel, and Huh Gak, chose T-ara, Busker Busker, and Kim Greem. "T-ara improves with each new track release. They definitely went up by leaps and bounds with 'Roly-Poly', and next year, I expect that they'll release a nationwide hit akin to the Wonder Girls' 'Tell Me'. Kim Greem, I think, has shown enough charm as a guitar strumming singer, so I think she'll show more next year." On Busker Busker, he said, "As proven through their audition program, Busker Busker has shown that they're a well rounded group in terms of stage presence, talent, and star potential." - Composer Yoon Il Sang has been in and out of genres all year, which was reflected in his choices. He chose the Brown Eyed Girls, Lee Eun Mi, and Shinhwa's comeback. "The Brown Eyed Girls' comeback release was great this year, but I'm looking forward to their solo activities next year. I'm also looking forward to Lee Eun Mi, but I think she should give a change to her vocal style. As for Shinhwa, I think they'll be bringing a tremendous change in the industry with their comeback, especially since they're an idol group that represented a generation on their own." - E-TRIBE, the man behind SNSD's 'Gee' and Hyori's 'U-Go-Girl', chose Big Bang, miss A, and Dal Shabet. He said, "If Big Bang makes a comeback next year, I think they'll be the trend leaders. miss A has always shown different music and stage styles, which makes me anticipate their future promotions. Dal Shabet is also in the middle of changing up their image and music so I think next year will definitely be one to look forward to." - Finally, the mastermind of After School and SISTAR, Brave Brothers, chose SISTAR's public-friendly image, TEEN TOP's potential for growth and the Electroboyz. "SISTAR has released many hit tracks over the course of their career, and I'm sure next year that they'll grow to become a national girl group. TEEN TOP and Electroboyz are also gearing up for some new change, and I think the momentum they've created will leave quite the impression next year." - Which artists are you looking forward to next year?
