Superstar K's seven months of journey had finally come to an end tonight. Just like its proud motto, a 'Nobody' became a 'Somebody', and he made 'Everybody' shout his name. Tonight, the 'Somebody' was announced, the one who had the skills to survive through the tough competition. He was Seo In Gook. The one out of 720,000 contestants, and the winner of not only a grand record contract, but an additional $100,000 as well. On the 9th at 11 P.M., the final stage, or perhaps a battle, of the two last competitors was broadcasted live directly from Seoul Time Square CGV Art Hall. The contestants were now reduced to Seo In Gook and Jo Moon Keun. The hundreds of people in the crowds proved the fame these two lucky guys were in. Still probably ecstatic from the recent contract with an agency, Jung Seul Ki had also joined the audience to cheer for their very last stage. Jo Kwon of 2AM blew in the luck for these two finalists. He said, "This whole event feels sweet to me, for I was also a competitor at a show like Superstar K. I hope this stage won't be regretful for both Seo In Gook and Jo Moon Keun." He definitely wasn't the only support behind the two guys' backs, for more than 170,000 people participated in voting for the winner through texting during the live show. Their participation was crucial to the finalists indeed, since their decision took 70% of the final choice. No different than the preliminary stages, the two were given missions to show off their dazzling skills. One was to sing a song that can best present their potential, while the other was remaking Pang Shi Hyuk's song in their own style. However, the judges, Insooni, Lee Hyori, and Yoon Jong Shin, all emphasized in unison on having "humanity" before "talents", for a good social life is a critical factor to become a successful celebrity. Jo Moon Keun opened up the stage by singing 'Hey Hey Hey' by Ja Ooh Rim with a vibrant sound of his guitar whereas Seo In Gook performed 'Only Look at Me' by Taeyang. The judges showed their satisfactory through their high scoring. The moment had finally come for the MC to announce the name of the winner. As soon as the name, Seo In Gook, was called, the audience gifted him with a giant applause. Unable to hold his overflowing emotions, the winner ended up bursting in tears. He said in thankfulness, "I want to open up a business for my mom with the money I won. It is such an honor for me to make my debut with a song written by Pang Shi Hyuk." Meanwhile, Seo In Gook is was a 23 year old college student majoring in music, who almost got dropped on the very first round. I can't wait to see him on an official stage under the name of a 'singer', rather than a 'contestant'.
