On May 12, rising star Na In Woo appeared as a guest on MBC's 'Radio Star'!
On this episode, Na In Woo recalled his experience being cast for the role of Ondal during a major broadcasting catastrophe in the history of KBS dramas. Due to lead actor Ji Soo's sudden withdrawal from the drama mid-filming, KBS2's 'River Where The Moon Rises' had to find a new actor to take over the role.
Na In Woo said, "I received an abrupt call from my agency on my way home from another schedule. They just said, 'Let's meet. There is something we need to talk about.' And they just hung up the phone after that, so I was really worried that I had done something wrong, or something had gone wrong. But once I got there, I heard about the situation. They said, 'As long as you say okay, this role is yours.' Hearing this, I thought of one thing. As someone who loves acting, I need to step up and take on this challenge with responsibility. I need to worry about whether or not I'm gonna do a good job later, and right now I just need to say yes."
In addition, Na In Woo also opened up about the challenges he faced after being abruptly cast as Ondal. "I basically didn't sleep at all during the filming, and I would get the script for a scene that was being filmed the next day. There was virtually no time for me to memorize the script at all. So about 80% of my lines were just ad-libbed. The situation just did not allow me to portray the script word for word. And because I just didn't have time to eat, I lost 8 kg (~ 17.6 lb) in a month and a half."
Hearing this, MC Kim Gu Ra comforted him with, "Well, you look good though." However, Na In Woo curtly replied, "That's because I've gained the weight back now."
Later on, Na In Woo also expressed his wishes to guest on KBS2's '1 Night, 2 Days' season 4! He asked his fellow guest Kim Jong Min, "Would it be possible to appear as a guest on '1 Night, 2 Days' some time in the future..?" Kim Jong Min answered, "Sure..?"
Absolutely loved the drama and I am so proud of him. He not only stepped up but his acting was amazing. You could really see his passion!
