On May 21, American president Joe Biden held a press conference with South Korean president Moon Jae In, marking his second official bilateral meeting with South Korea after taking office. 

On this day, Biden mentioned, "Our people share a long history. Our soldiers have fought alongside one another. Our scientists work side-by-side in both our countries. Our students study together, share ideas and seed new opportunities for future collaboration. And our people-to-people and cultural connections are only growing."

He continued, "And K-Pop fans are universal. I can tell who laughed know what I'm talking about."

Furthermore, Biden also noted actress Youn Yeo Jung's recent win at the '2021 Oscars' for Best Supporting Actress in 'Minari', while promising to strengthen connections and alliances between the United States and South Korea. 

It's also been noted by USA Today that on the same day (May 22 at 12 AM EST), the biggest boy band in the world BTS released their second English language single, "Butter".
