An 81-year-old South Korean fashion model, Choi Soon Hwa, competed in the Miss Universe Korea pageant, as she aimed to become the oldest contestant in Miss Universe history.
Despite being significantly older than her fellow contestants, Choi Soon Hwa impressed in a beaded white gown and participated in a singing contest. Although she didn't win the crown and won't be competing at the 73rd Miss Universe pageant, she was awarded the "Best Dresser" title.
The competition was won by 22-year-old fashion student Han Ariel, who will represent South Korea at the 73rd Miss Universe pageant in Mexico City this November.
Choi Soon Hwa, who started modeling in her 70s after working as a hospital care worker, was among the 32 finalists. Reflecting on her journey, she said, "Even at this age, I dared to seize an opportunity and take on a challenge. I want people to see that pursuing your dreams can bring joy and health, no matter your age."
